Frank Alexander Obituary

 

Mr. Frank Alexander, age 89, husband of Betty Jean Barnett Alexander, of 103 North Evans St., Union, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Alexander was born on March 19, 1931 in Union, a son of the late Arthur Bailey Alexander and Onie Riddle Alexander.  He attended West Springs High School and Union High School.  Mr. Alexander was a Veteran of the Korean War.  He retired from the Kohler Company and after retiring, began a new career babysitting his newborn granddaughter, Melody Hope Farr.  Mr. Alexander lived out his faith in Jesus Christ and loved his family dearly.  He was an active member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon and was a member of the Jim Smith Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years are two daughters: Kathy Alexander Gossett and husband, Jerry, of Union; and Angela Alexander Farr and husband, Bobby, of Union; three brothers: Roy Alexander and wife, Betty Jean of Anderson, SC; Johnny Alexander and wife Polly of Jonesville, SC; and Harold Dean Alexander and wife Dianne, of Travelers Rest, SC.  Surviving also are three granddaughters, Charity Gossett Vaughan and husband, Rev. Jonathan Vaughan, of Youngsville, NC; Christie Gossett Knight and husband, Rev. Jared Knight, of Franklinton, NC; and Melody Hope Farr of Union; his cat: “Doo;” a great-granddaughter: Anna Grace Knight of Franklinton, NC; and two great-grandsons: Nathaniel Vaughan of Youngsville, NC, and Brayden Knight of Franklinton, NC.  He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mr. Alexander was predeceased by one brother: Arthur Alexander and wife, Shirley, of Union; two sisters, Ruby Alexander Plemons of Union; and Doris Alexander Calvert of Wynn, Arkansas; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Von Plemons of Union; and Rev. Howard Calvert of Wynn Arkansas; two nieces: Susan Alexander Pick and husband Billy of Travelers Rest, SC; and Darlene Calvert of Spartanburg, SC.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Union, SC on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge, Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson, and Rev. Benny Green.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be David Plemons, Tim Plemons, Jerry Plemons, Rev. Mark Alexander, Rev. Gonzalee Childers, and Danny Jones.

Flowers will be accepted, and memorials may be made to Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379 or MSA Hospice, 720 South Duncan Bypass, Suite C, Union, SC 29379.
