Gay “Gigi” Turner, 58, of Havelock, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Carolina East Medical Center of New Bern.
Gigi was raised in Jonesville, SC and moved to Sandy Mush, NC after marrying the love of her life 37 years ago, Clayton Turner of Spindale, NC.
Gigi and Clayton lived in the same home for 28 years before they decided it was time to leave what they know to move across North Carolina to be closer to their son and his family.
Once moving to Havelock, NC Gigi and Clayton became active members of Cherry Point Baptist Church. Gigi would spend her Tuesday mornings at church doing CARE Team and then return in the evenings to do Bridge. She was there every Wednesday evening for prayer meetings and every Sunday for church. Gigi and Clayton became huge supporters of the Backpack Ministry. They would go to West Virginia every year to deliver the backpacks. Gigi loved her church family and they truly loved her.
Gigi was a fun loving, godly woman who loved Prince and Michael Bolton. Within five minutes of meeting her you were laughing and knew you found a friend for life.
Gigi loved her grandkids with all of her heart and would do anything for them.
Gigi came into Mikalyn’s life when she was 7 years old and they instantly became inseparable. Gigi and Mikalyn made a Christmas tradition of building gingerbread houses every year. They loved to take road trips and jam out to Prince and Michael Jackson. Their favorite movie to watch together was Phantom of the Opera. Gigi really enjoyed baking all kinds of goodies with Mikalyn but their most favorite pastime was taking naps together.
Gigi and Austin were truly two peas in a pod. Austin loved spending his days hanging out with Gigi either snuggling with her in her recliner or “helping” her at Bridge. They loved to watch Hawaii 5-O then play cops together for hours. Gigi made the best baked potatoes and scrambled eggs according to Austy. He also loved for her to make him his “hot veggie dip.”
Gigi: Austy, I love you a bushel and a peck and…
Austin: A HUG AROUND THE NECK!!!
