Hugh (Jr.) Jeter

            Mr. Hugh Jeter, Jr., age 77, husband of Carmen Johnson Jeter, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

            Mr. Jeter was born in Union, January 18, 1945, the only child of Hugh Jeter, Sr. and Faye Hicks Jeter. He was a retired teacher after 33 years with the Union Co. School District having taught at Union Co. High School, Sims and Lockhart. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Newberry College and his master’s in education from Converse College. Mr. Jeter was active with the S.C. Educational Association both on the state and local levels. He was an avid golfer and a life-long collector of baseball cards.

            Surviving in addition to his wife Carmen of 43 years, are two sons, Doug Burrell and David Burrell and wife Leslie all of Greenville and three grandchildren, Emily, Ian, and Giuseppi.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Jeter Family Cemetery.

            The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
