Mr. James Cecil Barrett, age 90, husband of Flossie Stamper Barrett of 204 Meansville Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Heartland of Union.
Mr. Barrett was born in Beattyville, KY, April 27, 1931, a son of the late Ballard and Gertrude Gibson Barrett. He was a graduate of Henryville High School in Indiana and attended Notre Dame University. Mr. Barrett retired as a regional sales manager with Manchester Tools and formerly worked with Torrington Co. He was a member of Putman Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. An avid gardener, he enjoyed flowers and was a talented woodworker.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Teresa Rogers and husband Tim of Buffalo; a son, James David Barrett and wife Jackie of Louisburg, NC; and three sisters, Virginia Keller of Maryland, Patricia Van Strydonck and husband Gerry and Vickie McHugh all of New York. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Melissa Miller and husband Craig and Laura Vaughan all of Winston Salem, NC, Lisa Jordan and husband Phil of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and two great grandsons, Evan Miller and Caleb Jordan. Mr. Barrett was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Barrett and a son-in-law, Harold Vaughan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Putman Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the services.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Petty, Tommy Petty, Donnie Vaughan, Scotty Vaughan, Kevin Fowler and Richard Moore.
The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, members of the Jim Barrett Sunday School Class, Johnnie Sherbert, Mary Lawson, Dr. Bill and Jackie Weber, Larry Rouse, Rick Mathis, and Rev. Dr. Ted and Diane Hodges.
