Mr. James Leon “Jim” Maness, age 87, of 208 Harwood Heights, Union, widower of Mary Lawson Maness, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Maness was born in Union, November 6, 1935, a son of the late Sterling S. Maness and Charity Minor Maness. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Kohler Company in Spartanburg. Mr. Maness was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the American Legion Post 87 in Buffalo. He attended Grace United Methodist Church.
Mr. Maness was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by a son, James Richard “Ricky” Maness; four sisters and their husbands, Cecil and Fred Smith, Valice Maness, Fannie and Charles Barker and Ruby and James Walter Ford, and five brothers and their wives, Elmer and Audrey Maness, Lloyd and Edna Maness, Ralph and Valerie Maness, Glennis and Virginia Maness and Henry Maness. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Maness of Buffalo and Janet Lawson of Union; numerous nieces and nephews including Jimmy Maness and wife Stella of Buffalo; special friends, Polly Haney, Patsy Johnson, Margaret Bradock and Diane Glenn and special neighbors, Jack and Barbara Seigler and Matt Parris.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Mr. Jimmy Maness. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday at the chapel prior to the services.
Mr. Maness’ nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The following are asked to serve as the honorary pallbearers, Billy Beheler, Jack Seigler, Gerald Inabinet, Matt Parris, J.D. Bright and Ted Burris.

The family will be at the home of Jimmy and Stella Maness, 159 Forest Meadow Rd., Buffalo.
