Mr. James Thomas Black, age 82, of 201 Lybrand St., Union, widower of Patricia Mitchell Black, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Black was born in Union, January 13, 1938, a son of the late Ed and Maude Smith Black. He was retired from Timken Co. and was previously employed with United Merchants having worked at both Union and Buffalo plants. Mr. Black was a member of the Union Church of God.
Surviving are his five children, Pam Black Brown, Lynn Black both of Buffalo, Kevin Black and wife Robin of Fredericksburg, VA, Tiffany Black Lancaster and husband Kevin and Kim Black Benson and husband Jeff all of Union; five grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Robbie Black, Jessica Black, Sean Black, Andrew Benson, and Maggie Grace Lancaster; four great-grandchildren, Kolby, Brody, Daniel and Emily. Mr. Black is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Black Lary and a brother, Rev. Lee Walker Black. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Sara “Chum” Thurmond.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Allan Black. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and Staff of MSA Hospice and all of Mr. Black’s caregivers for the love and care given to him during his illness.
