Mr. James “Cotton” Eaves, age 84, husband of Emily McBride Eaves, of 111 McBride Dr., Union, passed away, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Eaves was born June 29, 1936 in Kelton, a son of the late Mardis Eaves and Pearl Gault Eaves. He was retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Mr. Eaves was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard Jonesville Unit. He was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church. Mr. Eaves loved music, especially 50’s music, family, friends, and holidays.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lorraine Garner and husband Phil; two sons, Derrill of Union and Eric Eaves and wife Shana of Jonesville; four sisters, Waleanor Kirby of Union, Judy Bright and husband JD of Union, Miriam Gregory of Joensville, and Marilyn Sicay of Virginia; two brothers, Lawrence “Buddy” Eaves and Wayne Eaves and wife Virginia all of Jonesville; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Wilkins, Jessica Parkins, Celeste Ivey, Brittanee Schouse, Derrek Eaves, Gage Eaves, and Zeek Eaves; and six great-grandchildren, Alex and R.J. Wilkins, Will Eaves, Abigayle Parkins, and Wren and Noah Schouse. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jase McBride Eaves; four sisters, Maynell Jennings, Donice Knox, Olie Chambers, and Myrtle Kelly; and two brothers, Kenneth Eaves and Tom Eaves.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Scott Cannon and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will follow at Jonesville Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Doran Eaves, Jeffrey Bright, Troy Knox, Gerald Eaves, Chris Gregory, and Denver Sicay. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Johnston Lee, Jerry Lee, Buddy Cudd, Pat Kerr, Tim Fowler, Donnie Parkins, Keith Kirby, and Kenny Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
