Jeannine (Gregory) Elliott

Mrs. Jeannine Gregory Elliott, age 89, wife of Samuel V. “Sam” Elliott, Sr., of 445 Riley Rd., Buffalo, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Elliott was born February 4, 1934 in Union, a daughter of the late Ross Gregory and Wirt Roberts Gregory.  She was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing; she also attended the Medical University of South Carolina.  Mrs. Elliott retired as a nurse from Wallace Thomson after 55 years.  She was a faithful and lifelong member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Elliott served as the pianist, organist, and choir director.  She loved the piano and began playing when she was 7 years old.  Mrs. Elliott taught piano lessons and later taught with Barbara Ramsey.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Penny Wilson and husband Bruce and Stacey Kingsmore and husband Jerry all of Buffalo; a son, Samuel Victor Elliott, Jr. and wife Julie of Buffalo; two grandsons, David Wilson and wife Heather and Samuel Victor Elliott, III all of Buffalo; and two great-grandchildren, Claire Wilson and Cate Wilson.  She was predeceased by three sisters, Beatrice Lawson, Cleo Gregory, and Mozelle McMillian.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Doug Estes. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. 

Active pallbearers will be Mark Haney, Neal Elliott, Stanley Elliott, Mike Bostian, Michael McMillian, and Stanley Rice.  The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Doug and Gail Johnson, Jan and Paul Wells, Melanie Barnett, Kim Morris, and Kim Babb. 

Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Union Medical Center for their love and care of Mrs. Elliott during her illness.
