Joann Parris Obituary

Mrs. Joann Bridges Parris, beloved wife of John Parris passed away peacefully and entered her eternal home on Saturday, June 5, 2021. She was a caring, faithful person who will always be missed and loved, and will live in our hearts until we join her. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Dr. Joe and Sarah Bridges.

Joann loved anything pink and sparkly and found beauty in everything around her. She was an accomplished artist, and her beautiful paintings will always be cherished treasures. She loved animals, shopping, especially online, auctions and cooking. She loved doing for others and volunteered at nursing homes, assisted living centers and hospitals with her therapy dog, Ace. She and Ace brought much joy and happiness to the residents, patients, and staff. She was also an interpreter for deaf persons, using her talent at the Mon Aetna Baptist Church Deaf Ministry.

For many years, Joann worked in accounting and was employed with The Union Daily Times and later retired from DJJ.

Surviving in addition to her husband, John and fury companion, Ace is her brother, Larry Bridges and wife Laura of Union; sister-in-law, Kim Morris and husband Jimmy of Union and sister-in-law, Tommie Bartine of Phoenix, AZ. Joann also leaves behind nephews, Will and Spencer Bridges and Andy Morris and their families.  She had so many special friends that she loved and said that they were flowers in her heart.

The family is so grateful for the care and compassion shown to Joann by the doctors and staff of MUSC, Spartanburg Regional and Union Medical Centers. We so appreciate Katy Henderson, her special nurse, also Crescent Hospice, her caregivers, Rose Akesson, Elizabeth Gilliam, Deborah Bradburn and her loving friend, Judy Jordan.

At Joann’s request, a private service to honor and celebrate her life will be held by her family.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to C4 Ministries, P.O. Box 253, Union, SC 29379 or to the Shriner’s Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
