Joanne (Lipsey) Barnes

Mrs. Joanne Lipsey Barnes, age 68, widow of Donnie L. Freeman, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Union on May 27, 1952, a daughter of the late Willie Lipsey and late Pauline Smith Lipsey. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was retired from Hamrick Mill in Gaffney. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Jonesville Church of God.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Wayne Barnes of Pacolet and Jeffery Barnes and wife Nicole of Gaffney, two sisters, Betty Proctor and husband Donald of Jonesville and Margie Robinette of Pacolet. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Holli Barnes and Anna Marie Barnes and three grandsons, Nathan Barnes, Cashton Barnes and Christian Barnes. Mrs. Barnes was predeceased by a son, Christopher Lee Barnes and three brothers, William “Boodle” Lipsey, Herbert “Ty” Lipsey and Bobby Lipsey.

Graveside services for Mrs. Barnes will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in the Lipsey section conducted by the Rev. Robert Scott.

Active pallbearers will be Christopher Littlejohn, Andrew Littlejohn, Ethan Littlejohn, Nathan Barnes, Devin Littlejohn and Danny Wayne Knox.

Visitation will be held at Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Barnes’ sister, Betty Proctor, 539 T Bishop Road, Jonesville, SC 29353.
