Mr. Joe Oliver Plemons, age 81, husband of Joyce Brewington Plemons of 140 Dana Tara Lane, Buffalo, SC, passed away Monday July 20, 2020 at Union Medical Center.
Mr. Plemons was born June 30, 1939 a son of the late Alva Alonzo Plemons and the late Aileen Guyton Plemons. Mr. Plemons worked at Carlisle Finishing for 36 ½ years as head electrician and retired from Cross Anchor Correctional Institute. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was honored as Veteran of the Year in 2010. He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir and a member of the gospel group “Good News Singers.” Mr. Plemons was also a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Buffalo Redmen and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, hunting, gardening and dirt track racing.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years are a son, Harold Wayne Plemons and wife Angela of Jonesville, a daughter Heather Gibson of Buffalo and grandchildren Emily Jade Plemons and Jacob Dixon of Jonesville and Madison Bradburn and Joseph Landon Bradburn of Buffalo. Mr. Plemons was predeceased by three brothers, Ted Plemons, Jerry Von “Pancake” Plemons and Jim Guyton as well as two sisters, Peggy Gregory and Norma Nance.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday July 23, 2020 at 6:00pm at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Miriam Mick and the Rev. Kevin Dalton. The family will receive friends following the service.
