John Parris Obituary

Mr. John Fred “Johnny” Parris, age 74, passed away and entered his eternal home, Wednesday, December 29, 2021.  He was welcomed to Heaven by his precious wife, JoAnn and his Momma and Daddy, Fred and Thelma Johnson Parris.

Johnny was a caring, faithful person who will be missed and loved.  He will live on in our hearts until we join him in Heaven.  Johnny loved hunting, fishing, auctions, local music venues, and the Buffalo Fish Camp.  For many years Johnny was a welder and contractor and later retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections.  Johnny was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a supporter of C4 Ministries.  He was a Mason and Shriner.  Johnny was an active member of the Union County Shrine Club.

Surviving besides his fur baby Ace, are his sisters, Tommie Bartine of Phoenix, AZ and Kim Morris and husband Jimmy of Union; a brother-in-law, Larry Bridges and wife Laura of Union.  He also leaves behind several nephews and nieces.  Johnny was loved and had many special friends.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Johnny’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2021, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Bill Randall.  Burial will follow at Hebron Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Robbie Littlejohn, Todd Justice, David Rector, Tony Rector, Kenny Ray Puckett, Dale Robinson, Jeff Littlejohn, Toney Farr, Johnny Williams, Michael Williams, Billy Lawson, and Dalton Williams.  Members of the Union County Shrine Club are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort.

The family ask that those in attendance please follow COVID-19 protocols by wearing masks and social distancing.

The family is so grateful for the care and compassion shown to Johnny by Spartanburg Regional Home Health Group, especially Celeste West and Bobbie Butz, and his friends, Jerry and Judy Jordan, and Jimmy and Susan Rector.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to C4 Ministries, P.O. Box 253 Union, SC 29379 or to Shriner’s Hospital 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.

The family is at the home.
