Juanita W. McCullough

            Mrs. Juanita Wages McCullough, age 81,wife of Marvin Eugene McCullough Sr., went to be with the Lord, Monday August 8, 2022.

            Mrs. McCullough was born in Union, SC, July 6, 1941, the daughter of the late James B. Wages, Sr. and Eula Varner Wages. She was a graduate of North Greenville Jr. College, and Blue MT College of Mississippi. She received her Master of Education from Converse College in Spartanburg. Mrs. McCullough also completed the 30 plus years certification from the SC Department of Education. She taught in school systems in Georgia and Union County SC for 40 years. Mrs. McCullough was also a devoted member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she served in many different ministries of the church. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the WMU serving for a time as Director, led VBS, Children’s Church Leader, Assistant Church Secretary, and served as a part of Amazing Grace Food Ministry.

Mrs. McCullough was also a Scout Leader with BSA and Trail Life for more than 35 years. Later she transitioned to the Life Skills program for boys through BBC. She had over 40 years involvement with these programs prior to them being ceased due to COVID19. Mrs. McCullough was also a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. After her retirement from teaching she became more active in Family and Community Leaders through the Clemson Extension. Mrs. McCullough involved in quilting, crochet, canning and other various life enhancing skills. She assisted with exhibits during the Agriculture Fair, and also directed Quilt shows for the Antique Tractor and Farm Show. Mrs. McCullough also served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was also a carrier for the Union County News.

            Surviving in addition to her husband, Marvin are a son, Jim Wages McCullough of Union, and a brother James B. Wages, Jr of Buffalo.  She was predeceased by a son, Marvin McCullough Jr.

            A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Buffalo Baptist Church by Rev. Doug Estes. Interment will follow the service at Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.

            The family will be at their respective homes.
