            Mr. Leonard Dean Erwin, Sr., age 76, husband of Frances Williamson Erwin of 127 Bird St., Union, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at his home.

            Mr. Erwin was born in Union, June 10, 1947, a son of the late Ephren Claude Erwin and Mattie Thompson Erwin. Mr. Erwin was a member of Glory Baptist Church.

            Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Dean Erwin and wife Kim of Cross Keys, and Nelson Erwin and wife Rachel of Piedmont; a sister, Sarah Ann Heatherly and husband Ronnie of Jonesville; and three granddaughters, Tonya Thompson and husband Doc of Jonesville, Ashley Erwin of Clinton and Cassie Erwin of Jonesville. He is also survived by step grandchildren, Heather Knighten, Brandi Knighten and Jessica Black all of Cross Keys, Peter Rifenburg of Salt Lake City, UT, Landen Rifenburg and Braden Rifenburg both of Piedmont and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Erwin was predeceased by a daughter, Tonya Michelle Erwin, a son, William Dean “Wiggy” Erwin, two sisters, Agnes Osment and Pearlene Fowler, and three brothers, Walter Erwin, Jack Erwin and Dever Erwin.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday at the chapel prior to the services.

            Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Howell, Wesley Millwood, Doc Thompson, Luke Postell, Randy Erwin and Dennis Erwin.

            The following are asked to serve at the honorary escort, Danny Erwin, David Erwin, Jerry Erwin, Billy Erwin, W.C. Erwin, Joe McAbee, Joe Erwin, Roger Erwin, Alden Erwin, Albert Erwin, Jr., Doug Howell Jr., and Allen Millwood.

            The family will be at the home, 127 Bird St., Union.
