Mrs. Lou Ann Long Parris, age 63 of Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Parris was born in Union, June 19, 1957, a daughter of Patricia Willard “Pat” Long of Union and the late John D. Long, III. She was a 1975 graduate of Union High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College and a Master’s degree in English from Converse College. Mrs. Parris was employed with Spartanburg County School District Seven and taught English at Whitlock Flexible Learning Center. She had been a teacher for over 40 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to her mother are a daughter, Neely Parris of the home; two brothers, Stephen W. Long and wife Janet of Moore and Billy Long and wife Tammie of Jonesville; a granddaughter Kylee Wallace of the home; nieces and nephews, Tee Farr and wife Stacy, Conner Correll, Emily Correll, Michael Roark and Drew Long; and great-nephews, Will, Jackson and Samuel Farr. Mrs. Parris was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane Long.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Dr. Steven Owensby. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service. Those in attendance are asked to follow COVID-19 protocol for face masks and social distancing.

The family will be at the home of her mother, Pat Long, 312 Springdale Dr., Union.
