Marilyn (Riggs) Sanders

Mrs. Marilyn Riggs Sanders, age 73, wife of James Sanders, of 115 Malone Ave., Union, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Mary Black Campus. 

Mrs. Sanders was born December 14, 1947, in Union, a daughter of the late Ellis Riggs and Sarah Hutcherson Riggs.  She was a 1966 graduate of Union High School and retired after 35 years from Cone Mill Carlisle Finishing Company.  Mrs. Sanders was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years are, two sons, Joseph Sanders of Union and Joshua Sanders of Gastonia; a sister, Bonnie Abedini of New Jersey; and five granddaughters, Raven Sanders, Zoey Sanders, Zannah Sanders, Paisley Sanders, and Faith Ridings.  She was predeceased by a son, Jamie Sanders.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Merritt Wentz.  Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
