Miriam Roark Obituary

            Mrs. Miriam Wilson Roark, age 86, of Union, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Prisma Health, Greenville Memorial Hospital.

            Mrs. Roark was born in Woodruff, November 11, 1936, a daughter of the late James Henry Wilson and Sadie Margaret Willard Wilson. She grew up in Greenville before moving to Union during her high school years. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She had previously taught Sunday School, Church Training and Vacation Bible School at Westside Baptist Church. She was a successful salesperson with Avon Products and an Avon President’s Club member for over 30 years. She was a retired associate from Wal-Mart and was a substitute teacher with Union County Schools.

            Mrs. Roark was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leonard Roark, Jr.; sons, Ricky Roark and Kenneth Roark; a brother, Henry Lewis Wilson and sisters, Gladys Ruh, Thelma Ferguson, Marie Allison and Christy Faye Wilson.

            Mrs. Roark is survived by a son, Leonard Steven Roark of Lockhart; daughters, Emily Paluszak and husband John of Greenville, and Elaine Roark Thomas of Lancaster; one daughter-in-law, Sara Ann Roark of Jonesville; brothers, Kenneth Wilson and wife Carolyn of Hixon, TN, and Wade Herman Wilson and wife Sadie of Union. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Julie Roark, Crystal “Cricket” Roark, David Roark (Kalyn), Kasie Roark, Mary Wilson Paluszak Ippolito (Chris), Philip Paluszak (Kathryn), Joseph Paluszak (Micah), Gabriel Paluszak (fiancée Abigail Wiren), Peter Paluszak, Emma Paluszak, Sara Kate Thomas, and Henry Thomas; nine great-grandchildren, Tripp Kirby, Daniel Wix, Malachi Bobo, Jeremiah Bobo, Jaxon Roark, Noah Roark, Abigail Ippolito, Hannah Ippolito, and Madeline Ippolito and numerous nieces and nephew, and great nieces and great nephews.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Tim Dunn. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

            Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Philip Paluszak, Joseph Paluszak, Gabriel Paluszak, Peter Paluszak, David Roark and Henry Thomas.

            Memorial may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church 915 S. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379.
