Obituary

            Mr. Phillip Andrew “Phil” Crayne, age 57, husband of Barbara McCall-Crayne of 406 Toney Rd., passed away, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Atrium Health-Charlotte Medical Center.

            Mr. Crayne was born in Union, February 6, 1966, a son of Ruth Shetley Crayne of Union and the late Milos Andrew “Mickey” Crayne. He was a 1984 graduate of Union High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Auto-Mechanics from Spartanburg Technical College. Phil was a retired mechanic after 30 years with UPS and had also operated Phil’s Garage at his home. He was a member of Brown’s Creek Baptist Church and faithfully attended Glory Baptist Church. Phil served on the Board of the Monarch Fire District. He was very close to his family especially his nieces, nephews and grandsons who lovingly called him “Pooh”.

            Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Kacie Petrie and husband Shane and Megan McCall; two grandsons, Carson Petrie and Ethan McCall; two sisters, Gloria Farr and husband Toney and Judy Gallman and husband Walker “Dubby”; a brother-in-law, Bobby Horne; nieces and nephews, Lance Gregory, Andrea Eubanks, Daniel Gallman, Sally Robinson, Tee Farr, Hannah Vinson and Lennah Farr; and a number of great nieces, nephews, and cousins including a close cousin, Mark Williams.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Glory Baptist Church conducted by Pastor David Sinclair and Dr. Shawn Head. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

            Active pallbearers will be the following nephews, Lance Gregory, Daniel Gallman, Tee Farr, David Vinson, Josh Robinson and Andrew Gregory.

            The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort: Mark Williams, Jamie Williams, Tony Archuleta, Joey English, David “Tubo” Owens, Rickey Smith, Jeff Cogdill, Jason Porter, Brian Garner, Steve Grainger and Kevin Shetley.

            Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.

            The family will be at the home of Kacie and Shane Petrie, 408 Toney Rd., Union.
