Pricilla Vess Obituary

            Mrs. Pricilla Keasler Vess, age 79, widow of Melvin Vess, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Center. Melvin and Pricilla enjoyed 55 years of marriage prior to his death in 2015.

            Mrs. Vess was born in Chester, June 8, 1942, a daughter of the late John and Estelle Jackson Keasler. She was a retired childcare giver having worked at Mon Aetna Baptist Day Care and had also managed Tommy’s Grill in Lockhart. She was a lifelong, active member of Morningside Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU and a volunteer youth and nursery worker. She loved her Sunday School class and was committed to the Lord and her church family and friends. Mrs. Vess was selfless, giving, and loving to everyone, putting others before herself. To her brothers and sisters, she was like a second mom.

            Surviving are a daughter, Tammy McCollum and husband Tommy of Jonesville; two sons, Barry Vess of Union and Larry Vess and wife Cindy of Simpsonville; her fur baby and special companion, Perky; a sister, Janet Addison of Union; two brothers, Johnny Keasler and wife Linda of Calabash, NC and Tony Keasler and wife Kathy of Union; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

            The family would like to say a special Thank You to the wonderful staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Center for taking good care of her and putting up with her. She will always be remembered for calling people “Granny”.

            A going home celebration will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Andrew Austin. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.  The family request that those in attendance please follow COVID Guidelines by wearing mask and social distancing.

            Active pallbearers will be Mike Fowler, Greg Addison, John Tyler Addison, Ryan Keasler, Bill Davis, Blake McCollum, Capt. Derek Vess and Ethan Thomason.

            Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 112 Bates Ave., Union, SC 29379.

            The family will be at the home of her daughter, Tammy and Tommy McCollum, 1615 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Jonesville.
