Richard Arthur "Drue" Owen, IV

            Richard Arthur “Drue” Owen, IV, age 21 of Summerville, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.

            Drue was born April 2, 2002 in Mt. Pleasant. He was a 2020 graduate of Ashley Ridge High School in Summerville, where he was a member of the football team and always participated in many sports within the school and community. He was an award-winning athlete, both mentally and physically. He carried that competitiveness and professionalism into his young adult life. Drue was currently working at GCC (Grow Crop Corp). He was apprenticed to be a Commodities Pool Operator dealing in stocks, cryptocurrency and NFT’s.

            Growing up, Drue was always involved in Boy Scouts and was just one project away from receiving his Eagle Scout rank when the COVID pandemic began.  Of the many hobbies and interests Drue had such as shooting pool and watching sports, he loved cars, both racing and luxury cars. He was a very loving and kind son, brother, and grandson and “great” grandson. He loved his family, his friends and shared his love of Jesus from a very young age.

            A service to celebrate Drue’s life will be held at 3:30 PM, Monday, May 15, 2023, at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, Union, SC, conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz and Rev. Derrick Smith.

            The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 until 3:30 PM at the church prior to the services.
