Robert M. Hope, Sr.

            Robert Meek Hope, Sr. passed away at NHC Clinton on Monday, October 16th at the age of 76.

            Mr. Hope is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Flynn Hope; his children Nancy Hamilton Hope Goodbar (Neal), Robert M Hope, Jr (Rebecca), and David F. Hope; his grandchildren Katie Hope, Henry, and Elizabeth Goodbar and Isacc and Maddox Hope; his brother Dr. Harold Hope, Jr (Jane) of Charlotte; his brother-in-law Dr. Charlie Jordan of Florence; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

            He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Harold P. Hope of Union and his sister Mrs. Susan Hope Jordan of Florence. He was born on February 11th, 1947, in Union and

was a graduate of Union High School, where he was an avid tennis player and pole vaulter.  He attended Presbyterian College, where he continued to excel at track and field, and graduated with a degree in Biology in 1969.  He furthered his education at the University of South Carolina, earning a degree in pharmacy.  He ultimately moved back to Union, where he owned and operated Palmetto Drugs, Inc. with his beloved “Palmetto Girls.”

            He will always be remembered for his quick wit, his love for vacations and adventures, his compassion for his community, and his pride for his family.

            The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to VIA Health Partners for the loving and compassionate care provided to Mr. Hope over the last 7 months.

            Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:30AM Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

            A private burial will be held, with a memorial service to be planned at a future time.
