Ronnie S. O'Dell

            Mr. Ronnie Steven O’Dell, age 72, husband of Cathy Pearson O’Dell of 1180 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Jonesville, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home.

            Mr. O’Dell was born in Union Co., October 27, 1950, a son of the late William Henry O’Dell and Winnie Gertrude Harvey O’Dell. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was a retired welder. Mr. O’Dell was a lifetime active member of Gilead Baptist Church. He served as Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Director and was a member of the Choir. He also served on the Cemetery Committee and served as cook for the church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and ride horses. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

            Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kristen Burnett and husband Jon; a son, Jason O’Dell and wife Molly all of Jonesville; grandchildren, Austin and Ethan Burnett, and Steven and Coleman O’Dell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Shawn Ingle and wife Kacie and their children, Addy Ruth and Jaxon Ingle. He was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas Christian; two brothers, Bobby and Eddie O’Dell and two sisters, Doris Hagan and Helen Tisdale.

            The family would like to say a special Thank You to Bruce Cook and Compassus Hospice for the care and support given to Ronnie and his family during his illness.

            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

            Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 PM Wednesday evening at Gilead Baptist Church.

            Active pallbearers will be Austin Burnett, Ethan Burnett, Steven O’Dell, Coleman O’Dell, Jaxon Ingle and Tony Carrigan.

            Deacons of the church along with Pat Buice, Brother Gossett, Bunt Rider and Dean Adams are asked to serve as the honorary escort.

            The family will be at the home, 1180 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Jonesville.
