Shirby Duckett Obituary

Mrs. Shirby Gentry Duckett, age 78, of 728 Webber Lake Rd., Union, widow of James E. Duckett, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at her home.

Mrs. Duckett was born September 21, 1944 in Union, a daughter of the late Ruby Smith Morris.  She was a graduate of Union High School and was a retired textile worker.  Mrs. Duckett was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.  She was first married to the late James Bruce Gentry.

Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Wood and husband Joel of Union; a sister, Patricia King of Frankfort, KY; four grandchildren, Ashton Ward of Union, Levi Wood of Union, Gentry Wood of the home, and David Crumley of Pomaria; and two great-grandchildren, Tycen Ward of the home and Ava “Squirrel” Wood of Union.  She was predeceased by a son, James William Gentry and a sister, Juanita Williams.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2023 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Mark Truitt.

Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.

The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Dell Mitchell for their love and care of Mrs. Duckett during her illness.

Memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church, 763 Neal Shoals Rd., Union, SC 29379.
