Mr. Stanley E. Humphries, age 76 passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 after a period of declining health.
Mr. Humphries was born in Spartanburg, May 28, 1946, a son of the late Oscar M. and Martha L. Humphries. A life long resident of Spartanburg, he was currently a resident of White Oak Nursing Home on Pearl Street. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and retired from the construction industry. Mr. Humphries was a former member of the SC National Guard and was of the Weslyn faith.
Surviving are two sisters, Martha Painter of Roebuck and Judy Humphries of Fairforest; two brothers, John Humphries and wife Judith of Spartanburg and Jimmy Humphries and wife Connie of Pacolet; two nephews, JW and Donald Painter; three nieces, Tina Cothran, Melissa Case and husband Andy, and Tracy Humphries; step-nephews, Doug, Jimmy and Michael Jett; one step-niece, Mary Ellen Jett, great nephews, Kaden and Jacob Painter and several other great nieces and nephews. Mr. Humphries was predeceased by two nieces , Judy Faye Painter and Carrie Ketterman.
The family wishes to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of White Oak Nursing Home and Mary Black Hospital for their care of Mr. Humphries.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Andy Case. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the services.
Memorials may be made to The Encouraging Word of First Baptist of Spartanburg or to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
The family will be at their respective homes.
