States Lawson, Jr. Obituary

           Mr. States James Lawson, Jr., age 78 of 209 Davis St., Union, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at the home of his sister in Seneca.

            Mr. Lawson was born in Union, September 6, 1942, a son of the late States James Lawson, Sr. and Gladys Bentley Lawson. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Lawson was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and a former member of the SC National Guard. Mr. Lawson was a member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75 and a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he was a member of the Ralph Alexander Sunday School class.

            Surviving are a sister, Nancy L. Starkman and husband M.A. of Seneca; a nephew, Alex Starkman and wife Mary of Briantree, MA; a great-niece, Megan Starkman and a great-nephew, Ryan Starkman. He is also survived by an aunt, Carol Cookson of Union; two uncles, Harold Lawson and wife Bobbie Jean of Pacolet and Guy Copeland of Union and numerous cousins.

            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge.

            Visitation will be held at the graveside following the service.

            Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the family request those in attendance to please where masks.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379 or to the Union Masonic Lodge #75, c/o Roger Gregory, 119 Royal Oak Dr., Union, SC 29379.
