William Paul Vaughn Obituary

            Mr. William Paul “Cook” Vaughn, Jr., age 82, of 393 Vaughan Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Spartanburg Medical Center.

            Mr. Vaughn was born in Union, May 22, 1941, a son of the late William Paul Vaughn and  Mamie Gault Vaughn. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was a self -employed painter and owner of Vaughn Painting. He retired from the S.C. National Guard after 30 plus years of service and served 4 years of active duty in the US Army. Mr. Vaughn was also a member of the Mt. Joy Masonic Lodge.

            Surviving are his wife, Jimmie Vaughn; three daughters, Jana Rutledge of Union, Roxanne Baker of Charleston and Kelley Price and friend Jaime Shever of Union; a son, Paul Bradley Vaughn of Union; granddaughters Taylor Southerland, Sierra Rutledge, Paige Tadlock, Paula Gregory, Cassandra Chesshire; grandsons, Sterlin Tyler Vaughn and Rocky Lee, 13 great grandchildren and a special friend Jeff Price. Surviving siblings are sisters, Lolly Craig, Donna Harris and Jenny Beers, all of Spartanburg. Mr. Vaughn was predeceased by sisters, Louise Kirby, Minne Ruth Boughman, Ila Mae Rector, brothers, RD Vaughn, James Vaughn, Bob Vaughn, Harold Vaughn and a long time special friend, Mary Price.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

Burial with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Foster’s Chapel Methodist Church cemetery.

            The family will be at their respective homes but will be meeting friends, Friday evening at Mary’s Music Hall in the Nixon Center, Union.
