Mr. Jack R. "Jackie" Petty, age 65, husband of Judy Haney Petty of 123 Meadow Lane, Buffalo, died at his home Sat. April 1, 2006 after an extended illness.

Mr. Petty was born in Buffalo, November 1, 1940 a son of the late James T. Petty, Sr. and Elizabeth Frost Petty. He was retired from Torrington Co., Tyger River Plant in Union and was a member of Putman Baptist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class, the Pairs and Spares Training Union and had served on the church cemetery committee. Mr. Petty was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, Jonesville Unit, a former volunteer for the Union High School Athletics and had formerly coach Dixie Youth Baseball for 8 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law: Allen and Rita Petty of Buffalo, Tommy and Karen Petty of Union; 4 grandchildren: Jessica Petty and Aaron Petty of Buffalo, Katelyn Petty and Kallie Petty of Union; one sister: Joyce King of Union and one brother: James T. Petty, Jr. of Buffalo.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2006 at Putman Baptist Church by Rev. Donald Tillman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Henderson, Rodney Solesbee, Craig Price, Billy Fowler, Dan Burnett, Henry Petty, Matt Pittman, and Jeff Morris.

Formerly of Jonesville

Mrs. Martha June Collins Curry, age 75, formerly of 665 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy, Jonesville, SC, widow of Ralph L. Curry died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Magnolia Place of Spartanburg.

Mrs. Curry was born in Asheville, NC November 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Lewis Collins and Fannie Sams Collins. She was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from J.P. Stevens Company.

Survivors are: a daughter; Cathy Robinson and husband Phil of Jonesville, a son; Carter L. Curry and wife Pauline of Verden, OK, two grandchildren; Craig Curry of Verden, OK and Kim Curry Lindenbusch of Anadarko, OK, five great-grandchildren, a sister; Betty Goldsmith and husband John of Asheville, four brothers; Charles Collins and wife Novella, Jerry Collins, Rev. Jackie Collins and wife Jan, Harold Collins and wife Gwen all of the Asheville area, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Joe and Betty Curry, Mildred Sprinkle, Barbara Oaks, Ruth Sproles all of the Kingsport, Tenn area and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Curry was predeceased by a sister, Clara Rogers.

Margaret Ann Thomason Hildreth, age 55, of 319 Tucker Street, Eutawville, SC died Monday, April 3, 2006 at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ms. Hildreth was born in Chester, SC December 27, 1950, the daughter of the late Wallace M. Thomason, Sr. And Ada Hutto Thomason.

Survivors are: Robert E. Rabon, Jr., her companion of twelve years of the home, one daughter; Shellie H. Carroll of Waynesboro, Pa, two sons; Thomas Dean McKinley Hildreth of Charleston and Robert Lee Hildreth of the home, on step-daughter; Deadra R. Estridte of Folly Beach, one step-son; Daniel K. Rabon of West Columbia, six brothers; Wallace Thomason, Jr. and Roger Thomason both of Lockhart, Charles Thomason of Chester, Russell Thomason of Rock Hill, Ray Thomason of Richburg and Ronnie Thomason of Lockhart and nine grandchildren. Ms. Hildreth was predeceased by a sister, Brenda D. Thomason.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles. Burial will be in the Lockhart Cemetery.

Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw

GREER — The Rev. Patricia Ann Griffith-Fallaw, M. Div., wife of Billy Fallaw, of 16 Misty Oak Drive, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Duke University Medical Center.

Rev.Griffith-Fallaw was born in Fresno, Calif., a daughter of Clara Snell Griffith of C o l u m b i a , Mo.; and the late Samuel Ross Griffith. She was a minister of the Gospel in the United Methodist Church, South Carolina Annual Conference. Rev. Griffith-Fallaw was the first recipient of the Bessie Parker Memorial Scholarship awarded to a ministerial student demonstrating excellence in ministry. She was a graduate of D.W. Daniel High School, University of South Carolina and Chandler School of Theology at Emory University, Magna Cum Laude with Honors Thesis and had sung with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Chorus while at Emory. During her graduate study at Emory, Rev. Griffith-Fallaw was a ministerial intern on the streets of Chicago, Illinois. She had served on the board of Epworth Children's Home, Committee on the Episcopacy, as assistant to the Secretary for Annual Conference, and had served as chair of the Board of the Conference Committee on Higher Education and Campus Ministry. She served as pastor for Sardis United Methodist Church, Union; Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Rock Hill; and Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood in the South Carolina Annual Conference.

Rev. Griffith-Fallaw traveled extensively with her family throughout England and Wales and had traveled to Israel in 1989 and to Africa in 2001. Some of her photography from Africa was featured in an issue of "The Advocate", a South Carolina United Methodist Church Publication.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are three children, William Grant, Ann Morgan and Charles Ross; a brother, Philip Griffith of Aiken; her mother-in-law, Ruth Whitehead Fallaw; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Dawn Simmons Fallow; and sister-in-law, Mary Fallaw Bailey, all of Union; a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her father she was predeceased by her father-in-law, Charles Randolph Fallaw.

She was adored by family and friends.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held Sunday, April 9, at 4 p.m. at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, 200 Buncombe St., Greenville, with her pastor, the Rev, Dr. Douglas Bowling and her mentor, the Rev. Dr. James E. Hunter III officiating.

Pallbearers will be the Rev. Dr. Buddy Phillips, the Rev. Frank Griffith, the Rev. Dr. Delos Corderman, the Rev. Taylor Campbell, the Rev. Susan Culler, Ms. Sherilyn Brewer, Ms. Shirley Sokolosky and Mr. Rudy Powell.

Friends will be greeted Sunday from 3 until 4 p.m. and following the service in the church commons. Interment will be private.

Mary Louise Jeter, age 69, of Eden Terrace Retirement Home, 2780 East Main St., Spartanburg, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at her home at 12:30 PM after a brief illness.

A native of Santuck, Miss Jeter was born March 30, 1937, a daughter of the late John Mobley Jeter and Louise J. Jeter. She was a graduate Limestone College and retired from the South Carolina Job Service in Spartanburg in 2005 after 33 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a number of cousins.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Jeter Cemetery by the Rev. Robert M. Gant.

Harold Everette Horne, 64, of 212 Hightower Lake Road, Union, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Horne was born in Gaffney on March 16, 1942, a son of the late Clarence Everette Horne and Mable Taylor Horne. He attended the Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and the Union Church of God. Mr. Horne was retired from Torrington Co., Tyger River Plant, and was formerly employed as an auto mechanic with Roper Chevrolet of Union.

Surviving are two sons, Steven Harold Horne of Union and Tony Alan Horne and wife Jenni of Union; a sister, Earlene H. Gore of Union; a brother, Donnie S. Horne and wife Kim of Union and a granddaughter, Courtney Jordan Horne.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Union Church of God conducted by the Rev. Alton Stone, the Rev. Benny Green and Mr. Emory Roberts.

Mr. Gene Thomas Crisp, age 53, of 149 Robertson Lane, Buffalo, SC, husband of Amy Caldwell Crisp died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Crisp was born in Union, SC March 14, 1953, the son of Thomas J. Crisp and Edith Price Crisp of Buffalo. He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church and attended Bogansville United Methodist Church. Mr. Crisp was a graduate of Union High School and Limestone College. He was self employed with Crisp & Son Screen Printing. Mr. Crisp coached two State Championship Baseball Teams 1996 Dixie Boys and 1999 Pre-Majors.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are: a son, David Thomas Crisp of the home, a brother; Jerry Crisp and wife Cindy of Orangeburg, SC, a nephew, Matthew Crisp of Orangeburg, and special family friends, Emily Lunsford, Danny and Brenda Marvin.

Mr. Edward Oscar Harris, age 90, husband of Alice Ownbey Harris of 120 Ravenscroft Street, Union, SC died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Harris was born in Union, SC, October 17, 1915, a son of the late Edward W. Harris and Lillie Ann Vaughan Harris and step-son of the late John E. Harris. He was a 1934 graduate of Union High School. Mr. Harris was a member of Westside Baptist Church for over 80 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #22, a member of the Railroad Brotherhood and a member of the Textile League Baseball Hall of Fame. Mr. Harris was a combat Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater, North Africa, Sicily and Italy and was the recipient of Five Battle Stars. He was a retired Engineer with Southern Railway.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: a son; James E. "Eddie" Harris, Sr., and wife Joy of Union, four grandchildren; Christie H. Knight and husband Rod, James E. Harris, Jr., and wife Nikki, Denver W. Harris and wife Kim and Matthew E. Sweezy all of Union, seven great-grandchildren; Tate Knox, Morgan Harris, Jase Knight, Kadianne Knight, Juliette Scofield, Rylee Harris and Luke Harris, a sister; Clara Belle Harris of Union. Mr. Samuel Dean West, age 59, husband of Linda S. West of 211 Webber Lake Rd., Union, SC died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. West was born in Union, SC August 19, 1946, the son of Nellie Callahan West of Columbus, NC and the late Grady Samuel West. He attended Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Mr. West graduated Union High School and the University of South Carolina and was formerly employed with Webb-Forging as a maintenance manager. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a member of the John F. Masonic Lodge and a volunteer with the Literacy Association as a tutor.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are: a daughter, Stacey West Gault and husband Thomas of Chicago, a son; Paul Dean West of Charleston, a sister; Carol W. Walker and husband Richard of Tryon, NC and a brother Gene West and wife Tammy of Union.

Rachel Johnson Meador, age 81, widow of Manley Earl Meador, Jr. died Monday, April 17, 2006 after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Meador was born in Union County December 31, 1924, the daughter of the late E.L. Johnson and Beatrice McDaniel Johnson. She was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church and was retired from A & P where she was well known and respected by the citizens of Union.

She is survived by three sons; Robert Meador of the home, Ed McCrary and wife Anna of Taylorsville, NC, Dennis Meador and wife Kitty of Myrtle Beach, SC , and a daughter Ann Meador of Beaumont, Texas, three grandchildren; John McCrary III of Spartanburg, Elizabeth Ledbetter of Blacksburg, SC and Kathy Riggins of Groton, NY and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Meador is predeceased in death by her son John McCrary, Jr. and brother Robert Johnson.

BUFFALO — William Marion “Hootie” Gowan, 97, widower of Dorothy Mitchell Gowan, of 110 Drugstore St., Buffalo, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Gowan was born in Walnut Grove, Sept. 24, 1908, a son of the late Wi l l i a m Martin Gowan and Janie Gwinn Gowan. He was first married to the late Kathlee Lancaster Gowan. Mr. Gowan was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, and was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Mary Sue Keith Sunday School Class.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters, Gwendolyn G. Harvey and husband Marvin and Jonelle G. West and husband Alvin, all of Pauline; a son, Mickey Gowan and wife Gloria of West Springs; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Gowan, Pearl Lawson, Alice Valentine and Peggy West; 12 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and five greatgreat-grandchildren. Mr. Gowan was predeceased by two daughters, Gail Gowan and Doris G. Edens; a stepson, Billy Bolin; four sisters, Annie Mary G. Bogan, Maggie G. Mayes, Rhoda G. Lancaster and Gelena Gowan; and four brothers, Jim, Johnny, Reid and Herbert Gowan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Bogansville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gary Peterson and the Rev. Dr. Henry Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Thomas Harold Prince, 66, husband of Rita Hill Prince of 117 City View Circle, Union, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Prince was born in Union, Jan. 10, 1940, a son of the late Virgil and Mary Jane Vinson Prince. He was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant. Mr. Prince was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge #1321 and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Teresa Martin of Perris, C.A. and Susan Wright of Ridgeway; a step-daughter, Tammy Dickard of Buffalo; a step-son, Jimmy Henderson of Union; a sister, Mary Brittin of Georgia; four brothers, John W. Prince, David Prince and Robert Prince, all of Union and James Prince of Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. Mr. Prince was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Prince and Bobby Prince.

Helen Squires Beard Inman, 80, of 707 Arthur Blvd., Union, widow of James Inman Jr. died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Inman was first married to the late George E. Beard Sr.

Mrs. Inman was born in Orangeburg, June 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Oliver Bagley Squires and Ernie Ruth Amaker Squires. She was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church where she remained active as long as her health permitted. She was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant. Mrs. Inman was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.

Mary Jane Linder Redden, 49, wife of Michael R. Redden of 210 Stonebrook Drive, Union, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Redden was born in Union, July 21,1956, a daughter of the late Charles and Jeanette Miller Linder. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Spartanburg Technical College. Mrs. Redden was formerly employed with Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Penny L. McCutcheon of Union; a brother, Dennis Linder of Pensacola, Fla.; a step-daughter, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Redden was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Linder.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Donald Tillman. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Reverend Stephen Allan Smith
Union, SC

Reverend Stephen Allan Smith, age 43, son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Smith of 570 Police Club Road, Union, SC died of head injuries in an accidental fall at Reedy Coe Falls in Pickens County, SC.

Stephen was born in Union County, August 17, 1962. He was a graduate of Laurens High School, Class of 1980, Furman University, Class of 1984. He was a Captain in the United States Army during the Panama Invasion and was attached to the 82sd Airborne Division serving for eight years. Stephen received his Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in 1996 and served as Associate Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Laurens for approximately two years. He was Pastor of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Laurens for seven years and Pastor of Covins Baptist Church in Woodruff for three months. Stephen served on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and was a past President of the Laurens Baptist Pastors Conference.

During high school and college, Stephen served as a counselor at the R.A. Camp in Pickens. This was a special love of his. He was a leader in the Outdoor Challenge in the Laurens Association.

Surviving in addition to his parents are: his wife; Lisa Kondas Smith, one daughter; Lydia Marie Smith, a son; Jonathan Noah Smith of Laurens, three brothers; David Smith and wife Brandi of Belton, Dan Smith and wife Cheri of Jefferson, Ga. and James Smith and wife Keisha of Union, one niece and four nephews; Kelsey Smith, Andrew Smith, Jack Smith, Caleb Smith and Zachery Smith, two aunts; Helen West of Union and Peggy Rowe of Martinez, Ga. and an uncle; Donald Hawkins of Union. Stephen was predeceased by his grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. J. Wilson Smith, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Hawkins.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Second Baptist Church, Fleming Street, Laurens, SC conducted by Rev. Robert Emory, Rev. Michael Flowers and Rev. J.D. Shiflet. Burial in Lower Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery in Union with Military Honors.

Mr. Byrd was born in Gastonia, NC February 26, 1950 the son of the late Otis Dean Byrd and Minnie Pearl Bates. He was employed with Sanders Brothers, Inc..

Surviving is his fiancee Elaine Meeks of the home, two daughters; Sarah Rhinehart of Union and Deana Osborne of Columbia, three step-daughters; Kelly Morris, Karen Trantham both of Jonesville and Cindy Sanders of Union, one step-son; Cleve Ford of Jonesville, five sisters; Liz Fowler, Wendy Fowler, Debbie Coats, Lisa Fowler and Jackie Garrett all of Union, three brothers; Billy Bates of Gastonia, Mike Fowler of Union and Tommy Bright of Rome, Ga., sixteen grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Byrd was predeceased by a sister, Martha "Janie" Sinclair.

Mrs. Ellie Palmer Adams, age 100, of 432 Kelly Road, Union, SC, widow of Joseph Franklin "Joe" Adams died Friday, April 21, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the last surviving member of her immediate Palmer family.

Mrs. Adams was born in Gaffney, SC, January 9, 1906 , the daughter of the late James Palmer and Mariah George Palmer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Union where she was a member of Circle Number 2 and a member of Foster-Crawford Sunday School Class. Mrs. Adams was a former member of the Clemson Extension Homemakers Club and was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant after twenty-five years of service.

Mrs. Adams is survived by: a son; Aubry Adams and wife Rosanell of Union, two grandsons; Al Adams and wife Susan of Union and Ron Adams and wife Cheryl of Simpsonville, SC, five great-granddaughters; Taylor and Hannah Adams both of Union, Megan, Joni and Logan Adams all of Simpsonville, several special nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Annie Mae Gibbs. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by a son; Joe "Pete" Adams, four brothers; Columbus, Thomas, Mack and Cliff Palmer and three sisters; Martha Palmer Guest, Mary Palmer Kirby and Belle Palmer Robinson.

Mrs. Nellie Maude Bennett McCutcheon, age 78, wife of Harry Preston McCutcheon, Jr. of 141 Wildwood Lane, Union, SC died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. McCutcheon was born in Union, SC July 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Ruben J. Bennett and Elizabeth Jane Hull Bennett. She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a Member of the Administrative Board of Church and Treasurer of United Methodist Women. Mrs. McCutcheon retired from Lockhart Schools where she worked in the school cafeteria . She also had worked at Milliken & Co- Lockhart Plant and had owned and operated a restaurant in Lockhart.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: a daughter; Harriett M. O’Dell of Mauldin, a son; P.J. McCutcheon and wife Cheryl of Union, two sisters; Ruby Hope Ketchum of Arizona City, Az. and Dorothy B. Brawley of Union, two brothers; Jerry Bennett of Laurens and Charles A. Mr. Whitman Ben Holmes, age 97, husband of Frances Koger Sanders Holmes of 112 Academy Street, Jonesville, SC died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Oakmont of Union.

Mr. Holmes was born in Pacolet Mills, SC February 7, 1909, the son of the late William O and Bertha Mathis Holmes. He was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church and retired from Pacolet Manufacturing Co. in 1974 after 45 years of service. Mr. Holmes was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. Mr. Holmes was first married to the late Elizabeth Gallman Holmes.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: a son; Terry Whitman Holmes and wife Tonya of Jonesville, two step-sons; Fred Guy Sanders, Jr. and wife Sally of Stanfield, NC and Ronald Koger Sanders of Arlington, Va., a sister; Betty Holmes Peeler of Loganville, Ga., two brothers; Fred Owen Holmes of New Ellington, SC and James Holmes of Duncan, eight grandchildren; Jordan Holmes, Conley Holmes, Bryce Holmes, Michael Holmes, Sandra Holmes, Christen Holmes Zeleznik, Kim Sanders Ford and Crystal Sanders Beckner, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Marceda was born in Buffalo, SC October 18, 1941, the daughter of the late John Sexton Tidwell and Francis Tabitha Robertson Tidwell. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was a 1960 graduate of Union High School and a graduate of Cecil’s Business College, Spartanburg, SC. Marceda was formerly employed with Wallace Thomson Hospital in the Business Office.

Survivors are: five sisters; Mary Louise Tidwell of the home, Arline Wilson and her husband Marvin, Doris Loyd all of Union and Athalee Dickerson of Columbia, SC, a twin sister; Marcella Shirey and husband Leland "Butch" of Columbia, a brother; John E. Tidwell and wife Heike of Columbia, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by Pastor Terry Mitchell. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Mr. Blackwood was born in Union, SC, July 25, 1937, the son of the late Lewis Blackwood and Nannie Mae Cogdell Blackwood. He graduated Union High School, was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was employed with Dutchman Correctional Facility. Mr. Blackwood was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are: a daughter; Sheri Todd of Fletcher, NC, two sons; Billy F. Blackwood, Jr. of Pauline and Terry A. Blackwood of Union, a brother; Gene Blackwood of Connecticut, two sisters; Betty France of Clemson and Margaret Hines of Georgia: 6 grandchildren: Amber Blackwood, Brooke Blackwood, Abbey Blackwood, Jordan Swinton, Joshua Todd, and Gracie Todd. He was predeceased by a brother, James W. "Jimmy" Blackwood.

Sue Howell Bryant, 54, formerly of Buffalo, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Union, April 16, 1952, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Beulah Lawson Howell. She was formerly employed with Conso Products and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna Foster and husband David of Lockhart, a sister, Kathy Medlock of Beaufort; three brothers, Doug Howell Sr. and John Davis, both of Union and Ken Howell of Grover, N.C.; two grandsons, Douglas Edwards and Morgan Foster; a special friend, Rick Foster of Union; 10 nieces and 18 nephews. Mrs. Bryant was predeceased by three sisters, Charlotte “Shortie” Black, Inez Calhoun and Lois Ann Howell and a brother, Allen “Bear” Howell.

Funeral services will be heldat 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Mr. John Frazier Estes, age 95, widower of Jessie Mae Corder Estes, of 301 Estes Rd. Union, died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Oakmont of Union after a brief illness.

Mr. Estes was born in Chester, March 15, 1911, a son of the late Archie Andrew Estes and Carrie Robinson Estes. Mr. Estes was a farmer all of his life and retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and also retired as a detention guard with Union County. Mr. Estes was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Surviving are one daughter: Irene Nave and husband, Harvey of Union; two grandchildren: John Pressley Nave and wife Caroline of Greenwood and Joy Nave Smith and husband Jason of the home; one great-grandson: Ryder Smith; a special niece: Carrie H. Thompson of Buffalo and a special friend: Joe Bryant of Pacolet. Mr. Estes was predeceased by a sister: Marie E. Howell.
