Sam Landy Gettys
Union, SC

Mr. Sam Landy Gettys, age 75, husband of Ruby Martin Gettys of 408 Bishop Rd., Union, SC died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gettys was born in Toccoa, Ga. December 28, 1930, a son of the late John Baker Gettys and Alice Wilbanks Gettys. He retired from Milliken & Co.-Cedar Hill Plant and was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, the Disabled Veterans Chapter - Chester and the American Legion Post 87- Buffalo. Mr. Gettys was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; two sisters: Edna Watkins of Easternollee, Ga. and Ruby Thomas of Martin, Ga., two brothers: Dewey "Buck" Gettys of Toccoa, Ga. and Frank Gettys of Alma, Ga., a very special cousin John W. Martin and his wife Dianne of Union and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Gettys was predeceased by three brothers Arthur Gettys, Joe Gettys and Jack Gettys.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2006 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham, Rev. Carroll Caldwell and Rev. Johnny Thomas. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Ben Smith, Martin Seymore, Jerry McDonald, Mike Allen, Robby Horton, Charles Worthy and Julian Ivey. The following are asked to assemble at the chapel at 1:45 PM Thursday to form the honorary escort: Charles Burnette, Jimmy Allen, Jimmy Smith, Bobby Jolly, Dr. Joe W. Smith, Darrell Jolly, Willie Floyd, Al Whitney, Jack Richbourg and John West.

Jimmy Heatherly
Buffalo, SC

Mr. Jimmy Everette Heatherly, age 62, husband of Deanna Davis Heatherly of 158 Forest Meadow Avenue, Buffalo, SC died suddenly Monday, July 31, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Heatherly was born in Buffalo, SC March 15, 1944 a son of the late Harley Dewey Heatherly and Geneva Henson Heatherly. He was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where he was Chairman of the Evangelism Committee, a member of the Administrative Board, a member of the men’s choir and the chancel choir. He was also a member of the N.C. Locksmith Association, Foothills Senior Golf Association and served as Chaplain of the Union County Chapter of Gideons. He was a graduate of Union High School, retired from Torrington Company and was owner and operator of Union Locksmith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; a daughter: Karen Waddell of Mauldin, two grandchildren: Alex & Jay Waddell of Mauldin, two brothers: Martin Heatherly and Ed Heatherly and wife Carol all of Buffalo, four sisters: Thelma Heatherly of Union, Myrtle Roberson and husband Bill of Enoree, Ruby Fowler and husband O’Dean and Mary Ellen Moore all of Union. Mr. Heatherly was predeceased by his twin brother, Jerry Heatherly and brothers, Ray Heatherly and Dewey Heatherly.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton, Rev. A. Mickey Fisher and Rev. Broadus Heatherly. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Heatherly’s nephews will serve as active pallbearers: Ronnie Moore, Tommy Moore, Darrell Fowler, David Heatherly, Brian Heatherly and Marion Hinson. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 3:45 PM to form the honorary escort: Jan Gunter, Wilton McGowan, Bobby Fleming, James Whitehead, Russ Sanders, Jimmy Maness and Kent Taft. Members of Curtis Sanders Sunday School Class and the River Chase Golfers are asked to sit in a group.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Mangum

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Mangum, age 72, wife of Bobby S. Mangum, Sr. Of 401 W. Hillcrest Avenue, Union, SC died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at her home

Mrs. Mangum was born in Greensboro, NC, Feb. 10, 1934, a daughter of the late Ben Milam and Gladys Lineberry Milam. She retired as a childcare giver with Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and Grace United Methodist Church and had previously worked as a substitute teacher with Union County Schools. Mrs Mangum was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of Katherine Williamson Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to her husband are; two daughters: Jennifer M. West and husband Larry of West Springs and Julie M. Jones and husband Stephen of Union, two sons: Dwight Mangum of Forest City, NC and Christopher Mangum of Union, two sisters: Loretta Martino and husband Bill of Lexington, NC and Marie Fulk of Greensboro, NC, two brothers: Billy Milam and wife Janet and Ben Milam, Jr. and wife Judy all of Greensboro, NC, seven grandchildren: Erika Song, Melissa Mangum, Christiana Martin, James Dustin Mangum, Shelley West Harris, Tyler West and Whitney Jones, four great-grandchildren: Ethan Song, Ashtyn Song, MacKenzie Mangum, Cole Silavong and Nathaniel Bobby Martin. Mrs. Mangum was predeceased by a son, Bobby S. Mangum, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Palmer. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Betty Marcelle Burgess

Mrs. Betty Marcelle Burgess, age 73, widow of Otis Dean Burgess, Sr., of 135 Old Shetley Place, Union, SC died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Wallace Thompson Hospital.

Mrs. Burgess was born in Chester, SC October 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Myrtle Dover Sprouse. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Survivors are; a daughter: Betty Burgess Beverly and husband David of Raleigh, NC, three sons: Dean Burgess Jr. of the home, Dennis Burgess and wife Diane of West Springs and Kenny Burgess and wife Tammy of Union, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by a son Robbie Burgess and a brother Leon Dover.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Burgess, Brandon Burgess, Joseph Burgess, Shane Burgess, Daniel Burgess, Michael Burgess, Jeff Wright and Jimmy Robinette.

Nina Greer Wilson
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Nina Louise Greer Wilson age 87, widow of Charles W. Wilson, Sr., formerly of 1385 Sardis Rd., Union, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Union, October 16, 1918, a daughter of the late James and Sallie Edwards Greer. She was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from United Merchants, Union Plant. Mrs.Wilson was a member of the Clemson Homemakers Club and enjoyed canning and baking for her family, friends and neighbors after her retirement. Her homemade goods won many ribbons at the Union Co. Fair. Mrs. Wilson was a lifetime member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she served as volunteer financial secretary for over 40 years. She also had served as church pianist, was a member of the choir, member of the Women’s Circle #1, and member of the John L. Greer Sunday school class. Mrs. Wilson also served on numerous other church committees.

Surviving are one daughter; Beth W. Wells and husband Don of Union; two sons: Charles W. Wilson, Jr. and wife Jane of Union, and Jim G. Wilson of Union; three brothers: Paul Greer, Sr. and wife Margarette, John L. Greer and Hubert Greer and wife Linda all of Union; 8 grandchildren: Elizabeth W. Ireton and husband Mark of Jonesville, Charlie Wilson, III and wife Kasi of Easley, Beth P. Lancaster and husband Blane of Union, Sam Phillips, Catherine Greer Wilson , Jennie Louise Wilson, Clint Russell Wells and Paul Mitchell Wells all of Union; one great-grandchild: Ayden Blane Lancaster and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilson was predeceased by two sisters: Lena G. Ivey and Margaret G. Moore, four brothers: Russell Greer, Ed Greer, Sr., Manley Greer and Earl Greer, one grandson: Donald L. "Donnie" Wells, II.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Sardis United Methodist Church by Rev. John Cribb and Rev. Jim Ivey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson’s grandchildren will serve as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 PM at the church prior to the service.

Clara Belle Harris
Union, S.C.

Miss Clara Belle Harris, age 82, formerly of 118 Ravenscroft St., Union, died Sat. August 5, 2006 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Miss Harris was born in Union, December 19, 1923, a daughter of the late John E. Harris and Lillie Vaughan Harris. She was a graduate of Union High School and was a retired clerk with Peoples Drug Store and also Plexico-Wylie Drug Store. She was an active member of Westside Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are two nephews: Eddie Harris and wife Joy of Union, and Ronnie Boozer and wife Sandra of Charlotte, NC; three sisters-in-law: Alice Harris, Agnes Ruth Harris and Lillie Mae Harris all of Union; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Miss Harris was predeceased by one sister: Frances Harris Boozer and four bothers, Rodger Harris, Lemmie Harris, Edward Harris and Woodrow Harris.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 AM Monday, August 7, 2006 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jerry Lawson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:30 AM in the Fred Harris Building at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Helen Margaret "Polly" Caldwell, age 78, wife of Len R. Caldwell, Jr., of 309 Fire Lane, Buffalo, died Sat. August 5, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Caldwell was born in Union, March 25, 1928, a daughter of the late Fardie and Florence White Lunsford. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from United Merchants, Union Plant. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Scott Caldwell of Buffalo and Perry Caldwell and wife Carole of Union; one brother: Fred Lunsford of Fountain Inn; one sister-in-law: Elizabeth Lunsford of Buffalo; three grandchildren: Eric Caldwell, David Caldwell and Lisa Caldwell and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Caldwell was predeceased by a brother, James Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 7, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jerry Lawson and Chaplain Jim Hager. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Mrs. Fannie Calicutt Crowe, age 82, widow of Arthur A. Crowe of 1358 Linersville Rd., Buffalo, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg.

Mrs. Crowe was born in Union, January 20, 1924, a daughter of the late L. C. Calicutt and Lula Maness Calicutt. She was a retired cosmetologist and owner of the Glamorica. Mrs. Crowe was a member of Crestview Baptist Church formerly known as Westside Baptist Church.

Surviving are one daughter: Faye Smith and husband Walker of Buffalo; one son: Lynn Crow and wife Sybil of Union; four grandchildren: Amanda Gibson and husband Duane, Allyson Pearson and husband Rick, Jamie Smith and wife Kim, and Travis Smith and wife Andrea; two-step grandchildren: Cherie Gault and husband Tim and Wesley Hedden and wife Donna; three great-grandchildren: Derrick Pearson, T.J. Smith and Lydia Smith.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2006 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson, Rev. Tim Anderson, and Rev. Robert Alexander.

Mr. Gene Edward Monroe, age 48, husband of Pamela Davis Monroe of 147 Hilltop View, Union, died Wed. August 9, 2006 at the home of his mother, 116 Woodlawn Ave., Union.

Mr. Monroe was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, March 19, 1958 a son of Faye White Monroe of Union and the late Stanley G. Monroe. He was a graduate of Union High School and was former owner and operator of Wimpy’s Body Shop. Mr. Monroe was a member of the Show ’n’ Shine Car Club and attended Calvary Christian Center.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a step-daughter: Nikki Davis of Union; a step-son: Justin Wade of Spartanburg; two sisters: Sue A. Bridges and Carol Lawson and her husband Robert all of Union; four nephews: Chad Bridges reared in the home, Josh Willard, Matthew Lawson and Michael Lawson all of Union; one niece: Grace Lawson of Union; one step-granddaughter: Madison Maness of Union ; two step-grandsons: Jakob Clark of Union and Camden Wade of Spartanburg.

Nancy Ann Sorley

Mrs. Nancy Ann Weber Sorley, age 76, widow of Roy Sorley of Jonesville, SC died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Sorley was born in Charlotte, NC, March 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Lewon Weber and Lunelle Mitchell Weber Lackey. She was a member of Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir. Mrs. Sorley was a homemaker and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors are; a niece: Mary Anne Kreibich and husband Dennis of Fort Mill, SC, two great-nieces: Emily and Charlotte Kreibich of Fort Mill and a step-son, Ron Sorley of Indiana. Mrs. Sorley was predeceased by three sisters: Betti W. Elliott, Shirley Megahee and Peggy Williams and a brother, Robert Weber.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Sweat. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.

Madeline Mae Moore "Granny" Spoone

Mrs. Madeline Mae Moore "Granny" Spoone, age 91, widow of Albert Bill Spoone, formerly of Arthur Street, Union, SC was called peacefully home with her Lord, Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

"Tommy" White
Spartanburg, SC

Mr. Harold Nelson “Tommy” White, age 88, husband of Kathleen Lawson White for sixty-five years of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, August 12, 2006.

Mr. White was born in Glenn Springs, SC March 16, 1918 a son of the late Faber Thomas White, Sr. and Woodie Bates West White. He was a 1935 graduate of Pauline High School, retired after thirty years with Odom Oil Co and was owner of Tommy’s Pure Service Station in Spartanburg. Mr. White also worked with the S.C. Department of Agriculture for over ten years. Mr. White grew up in Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church, later joined West Springs Baptist Church and was currently a member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg. He was a sixty year member of St. John Masonic Lodge No. 333 in Spartanburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a sister, Blanche W. King of Glenn Springs and several nieces and nephews. Mr. White was predeceased by two brothers: Faber Thomas White, Jr. and Marion Odell White, three sisters: Margaret W. “Rita” Painter, Myrtle W. Shull and Virginia W. West.

Cryptside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Greenlawn Heritage Mausoleum conducted by Rev. Monty King, and Rev. David Blanton.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Dennis Lyon Riley, Sr.
Prosperity, SC

Mr. Dennis Lyon Riley, Sr., age 68, husband of Ann Railey Riley of 595 Circle H Woods Rd., Prosperity, SC died suddenly Friday, August 11, 2006 from a massive heart attack while playing his favorite sport racquet ball at Crooked Creek Park in Lexington County.

Mr. Riley was born in Greenwood, SC March 14, 1938, a son of the late Herbert Riley, Sr. and Ruby Seigler Riley. He was retired owner and operator of Riley Insurance Agency in Shelby, NC where he and his family made their home for many years. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church inShelby, N.C. Mr. Riley was a 1956 graduate of Union High School and attended Clemson University and remained a loyal fan and supporter of the University. Mr. Riley was affiliated with a number of insurance professional organizations while he was active in the insurance industry. Since his retirement, Dennis had pursued his favorite activities, playing racquet ball, tennis and fishing on Lake Murray.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; a son, Dennis L. Riley, Jr. of Shelby, NC, a daughter, Angela Riley Dorsey and husband Tom of Williamston, SC, two grandchildren, Megan Riley and Dennis "Trey" Riley, III and their mother, Rhonda Wallace all of Shelby, NC, a brother, Gene Riley and wife Marie of Union and a sister-in-law, Geneal Riley of Union. Mr. Riley was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Riley, Jr.

Mrs. Sybil Avinger Wilburn, age 80, widow of J.B. Wilburn, formerly of Cross Anchor, SC died Thursday, August 17, 2006 in Oakmont Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Wilburn was born in Spartanburg, SC April 11, 1926, a daughter of the late Manley Lee Avinger and Lilea Harvey Avinger. She was a member of Cross Anchor United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilburn was a homemaker and a loving mother.

Survivors are; a daughter: Dianne Price and husband Charles of Union, a son: Mike Wilburn and wife Patty of Cross Anchor, three sisters: Francis Edwards of Cross Anchor, Julia Pagniozzi of Ormond Beach, Fl and Rita Myers of Cross Anchor, two brothers: M.L. Avinger, Jr. of Cross Anchor and Edward Avinger of Tampa, Fl., three grandchildren: Kenneth Wilburn of Cross Anchor, Melissa Buford of Hobbs, New Mexico and Stephanie Price of Union, two step-grandchildren: Artie Fox and Troy Price both of Union, four great-grandchildren: Michael Wilburn, Jessie Wilburn, Ashly Wilburn all of Union and Brittany Bright of Hobbs, New Mexico and two step-great-grandchildren: Taylor Fox and Logan Fox both of Union. Mr. Wilburn was predeceased by two sisters and a brother, Nell Taylor, Doris Woodard and Albert Avinger.

Graveside services will be held 3:30 PM Monday, August 21, 2006 at Cross Anchor United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Walter Forrester. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00 PM Monday.

Active pallbearers will be Guy Taylor, Sammy Turner, Lindler Frady and Rickie May.

The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 PM Sunday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends Monday at the church immediately after the service.

M.C. Hughey
Union, SC

Mr. M. C. Hughey, age 83, husband of Margaret Vinson Hughey of 107 South Evans Street, Union, SC died Friday, August 18, 2006.

Mr. Hughey was born in Gaffney, SC September 2, 1922 a son of the late Cleve Hughey and Marion Sarratt Hughey. He was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Methodist College. Mr. Hughey served in the law enforcement with the City of Union from 1950-1983 where he retired as Chief of Police and was also the first Public Safety Director of the City of Union. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II attached to the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the in the Pacific Theater at Guam as a Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class. Mr. Hughey was a devoted member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He sang with the men’s Quartet and was a member of the church choir for over fifty years. He was a loving husband and father and the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; two daughters: Terri Elaine Hughey of the home and Margaret E. Newman and husband David of Spartanburg, two sons; Phillip E. Hughey of Enoree, SC and Steven D. Hughey and wife Patty of Union, five grandchildren; Jaime Hughey, Taylor Hughey, Samantha Hughey, Brandon Newman and Adam Newman and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Tommy Bailey. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Miliary Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Monty Kingsmore, Charlie Hodge, Eddie Harris, Russell Roark, Sam White, Franklin Pridemore, Dan Vaughan and Leroy Frost. The following are asked to sit in a group: the men of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, present and former City and County Law Enforcement Officers and city employees of Union.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Harry J. "Jack" McCall Jr., 75, husband of Nadine Mease McCall, of 307 Walker St., Union, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. McCall was born in Goldville, Oct. 17, 1930, a son of the late Harry J. McCall Sr. and Bertha Craft McCall. He was retired from the South Carolina National Guard, Union Unit, and was also retired from Conso Products. Mr. McCall was of the Baptist faith

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Candee Silvers and husband Scotty; three sons, Kenneth McCall and wife Deborah, Tony McCall and wife Teresa, Harry Lane McCall and wife Rhonda; a brother, Thomas McCall, all of Union; 14 grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCall was predeceased by four sisters, Bertha Burgess, Virgie Freeman, Mildred Hawkins and Thelma Wade.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Joe Wade, Ray Biggerstaff, Tommy McCall, Larry Burgess, Jimmy Hawkins, Kenneth Proctor, Wesley Johnson and Travis Patrick.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel prior to the service.

Mrs. Nellie Duckett Petty, age 85, wife of Clarence M. Petty, formerly of Buffalo, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Petty was born in Union, SC August 7, 1921, a daughter of the late Henry David Duckett and Mattie Caroline Duckett. She was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Petty was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are; a daughter: Dianne P. Belue and husband Ray Harold of Buffalo, a son: Neil Petty and wife Linda of Seneca, SC, five grandchildren: Amy Rector and husband David of Buffalo, Rhonda Labounty and husband Wayne, Telisa Amodio and husband Jason and Brad Petty all of Lexington and Jeffrey Belue and wife Crystal of Spartanburg and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton and Rev. Joe Stover. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Colon Duckett, Bobby Fleming, Bert Justice, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Maness and Lester Zimmerman. Mrs. Clark was born in Union, a daughter of the late Robert Roe Eubanks and Ruth Brown Eubanks. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and.

was a graduate of Union High School.

Mrs. Clark is survived by three sisters; Wilma Eubanks Cunningham of Jonesville, Millie Eubanks Parks of Union, and Rena Eubanks Ammons of Union and one sister-in-law, Mary Del

Eubanks of Union and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clark was pre deceased by one

brother, Robert Eubanks and one sister, Helen Eubanks Ferrell.

Mr. Rufus Glenn White, age 67, of 1817 Jonesville Hwy. Union, SC, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. White was born in Jonesville, December 10, 1938 a son of late Fay Landrum White and Maybelle Vinson White. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four sisters: Ella Mae Thompkins, of Deluth, GA, Thelma Carter of Greenville, SC, Hazel Feaster and husband Calvin of Columbia, SC, and Faye A. Monroe of Union, SC;

two brothers: Fay White and wife Shirley of Pacolet, SC, and Marvin and wife Mary Jo of Jonesville, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. White was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, August 28, 2006 at New Hope United

Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Scott Gilmer and Rev. Robert Woffard.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon, one hour prior to the service

at New Hope United Methodist Church.

Mr. Victor Ray Smith, Jr., age 64, of 1629 First Street, Newberry, SC died Monday, August 28, 2006 at Newberry Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Smith was the son of the late Victor R. Smith, Sr. and Irwin Goings Smith and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors are; a daughter: Tracy Barnes of Jonesville, a sister: Judy Johnson and husband Carl of Jacksonville, NC, a granddaughter: Holli Barnes of Jonesville, three nieces: Mitzi Johnson and Tiffany Johnson both of Jacksonville, NC and Hannah Krom of Ohio, three nephews: Todd Johnson of Jacksonville, NC, Randy Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va and Ethan Krom of Ohio. Mr. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Danny Hugh Smith.

Mr. Bryant L. Mason, Jr., age 75, widower of Betty Bryant Mason, of 295 Cedar Grove Rd., Jonesville, SC died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr Mason was born in Union, SC May 18, 1931, a son of the late Bryant L. Mason, Sr. and Ruby Horne Mason. He was a graduate of Pacolet High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College, retired from Milliken & Co., Cedar Hill Plant and was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. Mr. Mason was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors are; a daughter: Sherrie M. Harmon of Jonesville, a son: Larry B. Mason of Jonesville, two brothers: Robert Mason of Six Mile and Earl Mason of Lodi, California, two grandchildren: Ashley Harmon of Jonesville and Larry B. Mason, Jr. of Spartanburg. Mr. Mason was predeceased by a grandson, Troy Harmon.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2006 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
