Mrs. Mary Lee Brady Jett, age 64, wife of Harold Dean Jett of 1132 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, SC died Friday, March 2, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Jett was born October 4, 1942 in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of Ruth Wardlaw Brady of the home and the late George Brady. She graduated Union High School and was a member of Union Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a daughter, Donna Smith and Michael of Buffalo, a son, Robby Jett and wife Sissy of Union, a sister Mildred Fowler and husband Ray of Chesnee, four grandchildren: Heather Wilson and husband David, Phillip Smith, Hillary Jett and Madacyn Jett.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 4, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Pastor Bill Strong. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Margie Garner Fowler
Jonesville, SC

Mrs. Margie Garner Fowler, age 81, formerly of Jeffries Farm Rd., Jonesville, widow of Donald B. Fowler died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Pacolet Mills, SC October 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Hal Garner and Katy Hodge Garner. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors are two daughters, Joyce Ritch of Spartanburg, SC and Barbara Garner and husband Walter of Union, a son Jerry Fowler and wife Debra of Leesville, SC, five grandchildren, Rostin fowler, Kyle Fowler, Donna Sinclair, Michelle Roth and Duane Ritch, four great-grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Stinson of Pelion, SC and a brother, Jimmy Garner of Pacolet.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2007 at Pacolet Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Emory.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Barbara and Walter Garner, 138 Woodhaven Drive, Union, SC.

Mary Pearl Lipsey
Jonesville, SC

Mrs. Mary Pearl Baldwin Lipsey, age 91, widow of Willie Austin Lipsey, Sr., formerly of 328 Spencer Rd., Jonesville, SC died Friday, March 2, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Lipsey was born in Carlisle, SC, April 22, 1915, a daughter of the late William Baldwin and Ida Maude Sanders Baldwin Roberts. She was retired from J.P. Stevens- Jonesville Plant and was a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors are three daughters: Peggy Henderson of Jonesville, Shirley Moss and husband Ralph of Union and Della Whitt and husband John of Pacolet, two sons: Millard Lipsey of Santuc and Roger Lipsey and wife Sybil of Jonesville, three sisters, Maude Gault of Roebuck, Betty Jean Boulware and Polly Alexander both of Buffalo, two brothers, James Henry Roberts and Julian Roberts both of Jonesville and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In additon to her husband, Mrs. Lipsey was predeceased by five sons, Willie Austin Lipsey, Jr., Jerry Lipsey, Ronnie Lipsey, Joe Leonard Lipsey and Marvin Lipsey, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2007 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Lawton Neely and Rev. Joe Stover. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be R.L. Moss, Chad Lipsey, Ronnie Lipsey, Jr., Steve Lipsey, Paul Lipsey and Jason Rector.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday night at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.

Orion Oetzel Lancaster
Buffalo, SC

Mr. Orion Oetzel Lancaster, age 79, husband of Ruth Caldwell Lancaster of 1309 Mudbridge Rd., Buffalo, SC died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Lancaster was born in Buffalo, SC January 14, 1928, a son of the late Joseph Crosby Lancaster and Vivian Gist Lancaster. Mr. Lancaster retired from United Merchants - Buffalo Plant after forty-six years of service. He played baseball with the Textile Baseball League for several years and also the West Springs Community Baseball Team. Mr. Lancaster was a member of the Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Suzette L. Simmons and husband Tommy of Buffalo, a sister, Jane Billings of Enoree, SC, three grandchildren, Stacy S. Kicidis and husband Michael and Audra S. Sailors all of Union and Miranda Simmons of Taylors, four great-grandchildren: David Kicidis, Kristin Kicidis, Dillon Sailors and Hannah Sailors. Mr. Lancaster was predeceased by a son, Orion Oetzel Lancaster, Jr., two brothers, Harold Lancaster and Everette Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday evening at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson, Rev. Austin Bennett and Rev. Mickey Fisher. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Dan Collins, Gowan Lancaster, Barry Medford, Michael Long, Kenny Lancaster, Randolph Lancaster, William Scott and Michael Kicidis. Mrs. Marilyn Mitchell Teague, age 63, of 296 Meansville Rd., Apt E-28 Union, SC, widow of Ronnie Teague died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Teague was born in Union, SC, July 16, 1943, a daughter of the late James Mitchell and Ellie Bobo Mitchell. She was retired from Advance America as Assistant Manager and was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Mrs. Teague was a member of the choir, Circle of Friends, Director of MIF and participated on several Boards within the church.

Survivors are a daughter, Cheri McKee and fiancee Wayne Harris of Union, a son, David McKee and wife Debbie of Whitmire, six grandchildren: Faith Johnson and husband Pete, Chris McKee, Dustin McKee, Tiffany Edwards, Clarisa Johnson and Dalton Johnson, three great-grandchildren, Tori, Will and Chris Johnson and a special friend, L.C. Johnson of Union.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Sweat. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Alice Marie Eller
Formerly of Union

Miss Alice Marie Eller, age 95, formerly of Union, SC died Monday, March 5, 2007 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC.

Miss Eller was born in Union, SC October 1, 1911, a daughter of the late J.C. Eller, Sr. and Inez Edwards Eller. She retired from Milliken & Co-Ottaray Plant after forty-five years of service. Miss Eller was a lifetime member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Survivors are a brother, Rev. Harold Eller and wife Louise of Lancaster, SC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Benny Green, Rev. Don Waldrop and Chaplain Gerald D. Eller. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday night at the funeral home.

Florence Owenby Gist
Formerly of Union

Mrs. Florence Owenby Gist, age 86, widow of Palmer "Bill" Gist and beloved aunt of Cindy Robbins of Greenville, SC, Judy Davis of Leesburg, VA and Preston F. Bailey, III of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, March 4, 2007.

Mrs. Gist was a longtime resident of Union but for the last five years resided in National Healthcare of Greenville. She was retired from Union Textile Mill. Mrs. Gist was a member of Westside Baptist Church and Covenant Baptist Church in Union.

Mrs. Gist was born the daughter of the late Grady and Flora Cope Owenby. She is survived by her brother, Johnnie Owenby, twin sister, Alice O. Harris and two other sisters, Mary Sue Bailey and Dorothy Crocker and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gist was predeceased by brothers: Grady D. Owenby, Jr., Andrew Paul Owenby, Roy Owensby and Fred Owenby.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Chuck Parrot. Following the service, burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Timothy Robbins, Matthew Robbins, Eddie Harris,Thomas Ginty, Dan Davis and Leon Lockaby.

Mrs. Janie Inman Hoover of Cross City, Fl, wife of Donald Hoover, Sr., of Cross City, Florida died Monday, March 5, 2007 at the North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Fl.

Mrs. Hoover was born in Union, SC, a daughter of the late Thomas Torance Inman and Emma Ruth Spillers Inman Coleman. She was a very active member of the Rocksink Baptist Church in Old Town, Florida.

Mrs. Hoover was a beloved mother to three daughters, Wanda Rutledge and Judy Skeels of Tampa, Fl and Janet Hoover of the home, two sons, Wayne Hoover and Carl Hoover both of Tampa, Fl and a brother, G.I. Inman of Cross City, FL. Mrs. Hoover was predeceased by a son, Donald Hoover, Jr. and a brother, Dean Inman. Also surviving are a half-sister, Johnnie Goodrich of Buffalo, SC, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Rocksink Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Terry Crawford. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Joseph Gordon "Joe" Chamberlain
Union, SC

Mr. Joseph Gordon "Joe" Chamberlain, beloved husband of Mae Cullen Guess Chamberlain of 114 Park Drive, Union, SC died Sunday afternoon, March 4, 2007 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.

Mr. Chamberlain was born in Leavenworth, KS, March 15, 1951, a son of Patricia Fisher Chamberlain of Columbia, MD and the late Gordon Chamberlain. He was a ten year Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Chamberlain was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a BA in Theater and received a Masters Degree in Library Sciences and Information from the University of South Carolina. He was employed as Librarian and Media Specialist with the Union County School System at Union High School.

Mr. Chamberlain was active in civic and community organizations holding memberships in the American Legion, the South Carolina Association of School Librarians and the American Library Association. Mr. Chamberlain was a member and Vice President of the Union County Education Association and was involved as an actor in the bi-annual productions of the Boogaloo Broadcasting Company. He also enjoyed participating in the musical events of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his mother in law, Julia E. Guess of the home, two sisters: Barbara C. Miller of VT and Patricia C. Killinger of OR, six brothers: Timothy Chamberlain and Christopher Chamberlain both of SC, Terry Chamberlain of MD, Tom Chamberlain of PA, David Chamberlain of MD and Michael Chamberlain of KS and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 9, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Robert Alexander. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, SC.

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church and also following the Interment in Denmark, SC.

Mildred Bentley McSwain

Mildred Bentley McSwain, age 90, formerly of 406 Bentley Town Rd., Union, SC died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Ms. McSwain was born in Adamsburg, SC January 19, 1917, a daughter of the late William Bentley and Maggie Farr Bentley. She was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Club and was a member of the Union County Senior Citizens. She retired from Milliken & Co- Lockhart Plant.

Survivors are a daughter, Joyce Crocker and husband Jim of Lockhart, a son, Bill McSwain, three sisters: Kathleen Hutchings, Janie Bentley and Betty Webber, two brothers, W.F. Bentley and Rev. Jesse Bentley all of Union, five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2007 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Tim Huckaby. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys Smith Liner, age 82 of 216 South Street, Buffalo, SC, widow of Ray K. Liner died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Liner was born in Union, SC, July 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Ike Smith and Dolly Lawson Smith. She retired from United Merchants - Buffalo Mill after forty-five years of service and was a member of West Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors are a son, Randall Liner and wife Sonya and a grandson, Bill Liner all of Buffalo.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2007 at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ray Harold Belue, Rev. Johnny Burgess and Rev. Kevin Dalton. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Melinda McLendon Fant, age 82, of 304 W. South Street, Union, SC, widow of Alexander Scott Fant died Wednesday March 7, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Fant was born in Bishopville, SC March 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Robert Eugene McLendon and Louine McLure McLendon. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Union and attended Coker College, Hartsville, SC and the University of South Carolina. She had worked as a school teacher with the Union County School System having taught at the Monarch Elementary School. She was affectionately know as "WaWa" to her granddaughters.

Survivors are a daughter, Gene Fant Reid and husband John of High Point, NC, a son, Alexander Scott Fant, Jr. And wife Ginger of Union, a sister, Sara McLendon Sutherland of Union, four granddaughter: heather Reid Hess, Missie Reid Rash, Nathalie Bryd Reid and Meredith McLendon Fant and twin great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate McLendon Hess and Hunter Ryley Hess and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fant was predeceased by a granddaugher, Lee Alexandria Marshall Fant.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Presbyterian Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Alexander.

Mr, Johnny F. Gibson, age 61, husband of Patsy Alman Gibson, of 130 Camp Drew Rd., Union, SC, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Gibson was born in Union, August 10, 1945 a son of the late Ernest Elijah Gibson and Ester Craft Gibson. He was a retired electrician and a member of Sumner Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter: Amanda Pettit and husband Michael of Jonesville; one son: Shane Alman and wife Kensleigh of Pensecola FL; one brother: Benny Gibson of Union; 5 grandchildren: Cole Grady, Kaine Alman, Kyleigh Alman, Jace Alman and Mychaela Pettit. Mr. Gibson was predeceased by one sister: Joyce Sailors and 4 brothers: Ernest (Junior) Gibson, Terry Wayne Gibson, Billy Lackey and Bobby Warren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Dwayne Rueter. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Roger Sumner, Gerald Alman, Rolph Toney, Tim Pridemore, Reggie Pryor, and Greg Sveinsson.

Ben Ward, Jr.

Mr. Ben Ward, Jr. age 71, husband of BobbieWillard Ward of 112 Woodhaven Dr., Union, SC, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Mr. Ward was born in Union, August 21, 1935 a son of the late Ben Ward, Sr and Willie Sanders Ward. He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Navy having served tours of duty in Korea Vietnam among other places. After retiring from the navy, he spent his time as a construction contractor and was employed with the Union County Schools. Mr. Ward was a devoted member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and on various church committees. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Patty Ward Hughey and husband Steve, Cathy Ward Shugart and fiancee Jason Peahuff; two sons: Major Ben Ward III and Matthew Ward all of Union; one sister: Hilda Bailey and husband Carol of Union; six grandchildren: Tyler Shugart, Brett Shugart, Jamie Hughey, Taylor Hughey, Samantha Hughey all of Union, and Jacob Ward of Batesburg-Leesville; one great-grandson: Christian Hughey; a special sister-in-law: Lou H. Smith; a special family friend: Susan Bailey; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday March 12, 2007 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church Conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.

Mr. Hubert M. Weed, age 92, widow of Mary Boling Weed, formerly of Gulf Breeze, FL, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Oakmont Nursing Center.

Mr. Weed was born in Bainbridge GA, May 29, 1914 a son of the late Alto Lee Weed and Jessie McCrannie Weed. He was retired from the Pensacola Naval Air Station and was a member of the Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola. Mr. Weed was a Mason.

Surviving are three daughters: Beverly Weed and Pamela Vaughan and husband Bobby all of Union and Patricia Droogsma and husband Mike of Gulf Breeze, FL; two sons; David G. Weed and wife Sharon of Millersville, MD and Kenneth M. Weed and wife Judy of Tallasee AL; one brother in law: Clarence Pape of Gulf Breeze, FL; five grandchildren: Jeffrey Vaughan and wife Laura, Christopher Weed, Jenny Weed, Scott Weed, Jamie Droogsma, Austin Droogsma and Jessie Droogsma; two step-grandchildren: Joshua Mallory and Tabatha Mallory. Mr. Weed was predeceased by a sister, Florence Pape and a brother, Alton Carswell Weed.

Mrs. Patricia Grace Long Varner, age 64, wife of Bobby D. Varner of 208 Hames Ave. Jonesville, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Regional Hospice Home of Spartanburg after a brief illness.

Mrs. Varner was born in Union, January 10, 1943 a daughter of the late Sam and Grace Hodge Long. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and Spartanburg Community College. Mrs Varner was a teacher with the Jonesville Head Start Program and a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters: Kim Alexander and husband Chip of York, and Kristie Roberson and husband Mike of Jonesville; one son: Dennis Varner and wife Stephanie of Jonesville; one sister: Shirley Robinson of Jonesville; four grandchildren: Heather Varner of Jonesville, Kaitlin Varner of Whitmire, Christina Alexander and Galt Alexander both of York. Mrs. Varner was predeased by a brother: Gene Long.

Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Owings White, age 94, widower of Bruce W. White, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Methodist Manor in Florence, where she was a resident for the past eight years.

Mrs. White was born in Greer, November 19, 1912, the youngest and only daughter of five children of Methodist Minister Wain Marvin and Lori Patterson Owings. She was a graduate of Converse College and married Bruce Welborn White, an attorney in Union and had two children. She taught second grade for many years and was very active in her local church, literary and social Clubs. Mrs. White was the founding member of the Cotillion Club in Union.

Surviving are two sons: Dr. Bruce Welborn White, Jr. of Florence and Dr. Wain Luther White of Greensboro, NC; her brother, Dr. James Rembert Owings of Greenville; and five granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2007 at Grace United Methodist. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. O’Shields was born in Union, June 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Charlie and Inez Foster Moore. She was retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and was a member of Brown’s Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School of over 40 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter: Linda Carter and husband Floyd of Union; two sons: Larry K. He was a graduate of North Greenville College and Furman University and had attended Erskine Seminary. Rev. Crocker was a retired Baptist Minister having served several churches in the Upstate including Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Spartanburg, Draytonville Baptist Church in Gaffney, Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer and Ottaray Baptist Church in Union. He was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Susan Ledford and husband Billy of Union, a son, Eddie Smith and wife Andrea of Union, two granddaughters: Jennifer Ledford and Hillary Smith both of Union, a sister Ruth Quinn and husband Roy of Union, a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Helen Garner of Union. Mr. Charles Clifford "Charlie Burnett, age 73, husband of Evelyn Bradley Burnett of 75 Edgewater Drive, Waterloo, SC died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Burnett was born in Union, SC November 23, 1933, a son of the late Wade Burnett and Beatrice White Burnett. He was a retired fuel distributor with Dearybury Oil Co. Mr. Burnett was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp after twenty years of service having served during the Vietnam and Korean Conflict. He was a drill instructor with the 3rd Marine Division from 1951-1971. Mr. Burnett received two Purple Hearts and was inducted into the Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Winsor, NY on November 11, 2006. He was a member of the VFW. Mr. Burnett was first married to the late Geraldine Stepp Burnett.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Janet Elaine Crisp of GA and Susan Burnett Jones of NC; a son: Charles Neil Burnett of VA; a stepson: Jeffery Wright of FL; a sister, Brenda Reitter of PA; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Varner was born in Union, SC March 14, 1932 the son of the late Beulah Varner. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and was a former member of the Tabernacle Quartet. Mr. Varner was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division having served eighteen months in Germany. He was retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation.

She was a member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does of Greenville. She was of the Methodist Faith.

A memorial graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.

Corine Vinson Hart
Union, SC

Mrs. Corine Vinson Hart, age 83, formerly of Zetta Rd., Union, SC , widow of Nanzetta John Hart died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hart was born in Union, SC April 14, 1923, a daughter of the late Thomas Vinson and Mammie Mitchell Vinson. She was a member of McCutchen Memorial Presbyterian Church for over sixty years and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors are a daughter, Susie H. Berry and husband Gene, two sons: Claude T. Hart, Sr. and wife Susan and Wade L. Hart and wife Paulette all of Union, a sister, Gertrude Duckett, three brothers: Jake Vinson and wife Ollie Mae, Jack Vinson and wife Sara and H.A. "Buck" Vinson and wife Bessie all of Union, five grandchildren: Tommy Hart, David Hart, Alicia Palmer, Buffy McKeown and Michelle Betenbaugh, a number of great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hart was predeceased by three brothers: Tom Vinson, Jeff Vinson and J.E. Vinson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. John Lee and Rev. Stephen Berry. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy McKeown, Tommy Hart, David Hart, Justin Hart, Jordan Hart and Nick Hart. Employees and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and Dr. David Keith are asked to sit in a group.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Friday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

James Frank Childers

Mr. James Frank Childers, age 75 of 1817 Jonesville Hwy., Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, Union, SC, formerly of Lockhart died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Childers was born in York, SC November 25, 1931, a son of the late Benjamin "Ben" Childers and Mable Jeanette Childers.

Survivors are a sister, Lille Mae Holmes of Chester, SC, a brother, Alex Chalmers Childers of Lockhart and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Roger Roof.

The family will receive friends 12:45-1:45 PM Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home prior to the service.

The family will be at their respective homes.

Mr. John Thomas Cuthbertson, age 74 of 4402 King-Kennedy Street, Carlisle, SC, widower of Jean Fox Cuthbertson died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Cuthbertson was born in Marion,SC May 22, 1932, a son of the late James Alexander Cuthbertson and Bernice Webb Cuthbertson. He was a graduate of McCormick High School and retired from Essex Cable Company.

Survivors are three sons: David Cuthbertson and wife Faye of Carlisle, Jamie Cuthbertson and wife Sherry of N.C. and Michael Cuthbertson of Benson, NC, a sister: Joan Cuthbertson Garner and husband Noel of Taylors, SC, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Cuthbertson was predeceased by a grandson, Chad Cuthbertson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Dr. Carroll Calvert and Rev. Stephen Berry. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.

Burial will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 2, 2007 at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion, N.C with visitation immediately following the graveside service.
